How to locate a RaceBox Mini S that came off while riding

Problem: You've lost your RaceBox Mini S while riding, and you want to locate it using the "LightBlue" app available for free on Apple and Android app stores.

 

Step 1: Download and Install the "LightBlue" App

  1. Go to the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android) on your smartphone.

  2. Search for "LightBlue" in the search bar and locate the app developed by Punch Through Design.

  3. Download and install it on your device. 

   

Step 2: Open the "LightBlue" App

  1. Once the app is installed, open it on your smartphone.

Step 3: Enable Bluetooth

  1. Make sure your smartphone's Bluetooth is turned on. The app requires Bluetooth to detect nearby devices.

Step 4: Search for the RaceBox Mini S

  1. When you open the "LightBlue" app, you will find a list of nearby Bluetooth devices. The RaceBox Mini S will be visible on this list once it is within 30 meters of your smartphone. Keep moving along the track and check for Bluetooth connections to appear. If your device is covered by dirt or doesn't have a great line of sight, the distance for the connection to appear could be much shorter

Step 5: Observe Beacon Strength

  1. Pay attention to the "beacon strength" of the RaceBox Mini S displayed in the app. This strength is indicated by a numerical value or signal bars. As you move around, the beacon strength should change.

Step 6: Walk Around to Locate

  1. Begin walking around the area where you believe you lost the RaceBox Mini S. Keep an eye on the "LightBlue" app's list of nearby devices.

Step 7: Follow the Beacon Strength

  1. As you move closer to the RaceBox Mini S, the beacon strength should increase. Conversely, if you move away, it will decrease. Use this information to guide you in the right direction.

Step 8: Narrow Down the Search

  1. Continue walking around, paying attention to changes in beacon strength. This will help you narrow down the location of the RaceBox Mini S.

Step 9: Locate the RaceBox Mini S

  1. Once you've pinpointed a location where the beacon strength is strong and stable, you are likely very close to your RaceBox Mini S. Carefully inspect the area to locate the device.
