Here are a few tips that will making using the VISION software much easier to set up and you'll also get more out of your VISION analysis.
A few quick tips:
- No tripod necessary (VISION is designed to be used with you holding your iPhone)
- Use your camera app on your iPhone (any camera works though)
- Record 2 videos standing in the same spot
More detailed tips:
- Record videos ~15 seconds or so (for typical motocross speeds this seems to be the length your rider will be near enough the camera for VISION to work well. If your rider stays near the camera longer then longer videos will work fine too). Videos must be more than 1.5 seconds and less than 60 seconds.
- Record from a location where the rider will ideally always be in clear view (not frequently obstructed by other riders, trees, jump faces, etc)
- Use optical zoom on your camera as much as possible (this makes a clearer picture in your video)
- Record at 4k and 60FPS for best results. Other resolutions and frame rates between 24 and 90FPS should also work well). Super slow-mo mode on your iPhone will not work.
- Recording in landscape mode typically works best, but portrait also works.
- If trading places with another videographer, give good instructions on where to stand (mark the spot with a rock or stick - make sure they use the same landscape or portrait orientation - airdrop each other the videos)
