Getting inaccurate jump data — missed jumps, inflated airtime, or messy route lines? This guide walks you through how to set up your RaceBox for the most accurate jump detection possible.
Before you start, it helps to know what causes what:
- Bike vibrations affect airtime accuracy. The more vibration reaching your RaceBox, the harder it is to detect takeoffs and landings cleanly.
- Blocked or degraded GPS signal affects route-line accuracy. The more open sky your device can see, the cleaner your lines on the track map.
Follow the steps below to rule out both.
Step 1: Update your app
Make sure you're running the newest version of the LITPro app. Jump detection improvements ship regularly, and older versions won't have the latest refinements.
Step 2: Mount your device in the right spot
RaceBox Micro
Ideal: In LITPro's custom Bar Pad Mount
Mount your Micro in LITPro's custom-made Bar Pad Mount — a bar pad designed with integrated mounting for the RaceBox Micro. It holds the device securely and dampens bike vibrations, giving you the most accurate jump detection.
Bad: Anywhere else
Other locations (behind the number plate, front/back fender, under the seat, on the frame, etc.) expose the Micro to vibration and signal blockage, leading to missed jumps and inaccurate data. We do not recommend them.
RaceBox Mini S
Ideal: On top of the rider's helmet
Mount the Mini S on top of your helmet. It's isolated from bike vibrations and has the clearest possible view of the sky — the best combination for accurate airtime and clean route lines.
Good: On the front fender of the bike
If a helmet mount isn't an option, mount the Mini S on the front fender. It generally produces good results, though the added vibration means airtime accuracy may fall slightly short of a helmet mount.
Not so good: Anywhere else
Other locations expose the Mini S to more vibration and blocked GPS signal, and your jump and route data will suffer.
Step 3: Set mounting location in the app
Assign the mounting location you chose above in step 2 in the app. Go to the screen where you manage and connect to your Racebox, and follow the instructions there for setting your mounting location. Make sure your selection accurately reflects your mounting location or the wrong jump detection algorithm gets used.
Step 4: Re-test and compare
Head back out and record a session with your new setup. You should see more consistent airtime numbers and cleaner route line
A note on jump detection accuracy
We're actively working on refining our jump detection accuracy. Keeping your app updated and using the ideal mounting locations above helps on both ends — you get the most accurate data possible today, and the quality data coming back to us helps us keep improving jump detection for everyone.
