IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to reasons beyond our control, activity data tracked using the default "Motocross" activity profile provided by Garmin will not be shared with LITPro and your laps will be permanently lost. An easy workaround is to create a custom motocross activity type. This guide will walk you through creating a custom activity type with optimized GPS settings for accuracy.
Customizing Your Activity Profile List in Garmin Connect
Many Garmin devices allow you to update what activity profiles display on the watch from within the Garmin Connect app. To see a list of available activity profiles that you can customize on your watch, follow the steps below.
NOTE: Some devices have a limit to the number of activity profiles that will display on the watch at one time.
-
Open the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone.
-
Open the menu by selecting More (bottom right).
-
Select Garmin Devices.
-
Select your device.
-
Select Activities or Activity Options.
-
Select Add/Plus to add displayed activities.
- Select Other and name your activity "LITProMX" or another.
- Select Save.
-
Select Done.
-
Sync your device.
Once the sync is complete the activity profiles on your device will be updated.
If your device does not offer the ability to customize the activity profile list in Garmin Connect, see your owner’s manual for instructions for customizing your watch.
Configuring the GPS Settings
- Once your "Motocross" profile is created, you must adjust the GPS settings for maximum accuracy.
- Scroll to the ‘GPS’ setting within your "Motocross" activity settings.
- Select ‘GPS + GLONASS’ (or ‘GPS + GALILEO’ depending on your region and watch model) for the most accurate GPS tracking. This uses additional satellites beyond the standard GPS, which can improve accuracy in challenging environments.
- If available, also enable ‘UltraTrac’ mode. This mode increases the GPS update frequency, which can be beneficial for high-speed activities like motocross where you cover a lot of ground quickly.
Troubleshooting Tips:
- If you notice that the GPS accuracy is not as expected, ensure that your Garmin watch's software is current.
- Check if the ‘GPS + GLONASS’ or ‘GPS + GALILEO’ settings are still enabled, as software updates can sometimes revert settings to default.
- Ensure your watch has a clear view of the sky (the handlebars are ideal for mounting); obstructions can interfere with GPS signals.
